Boat Name: Tranquility.
Glenda was born in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester, quite a long time ago! Married to Alan, they have two grown-up sons, blessing them with two wonderful grandsons in Virginia, US, and a beautiful granddaughter in Germany.
She was a teacher and, latterly, taught in a special school for children of all ages with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and autism. Now she is happily retired! As well as our boat, she loves walking, jogging, climbing mountains, swimming, crafting and lots of other things.
Glenda and Alan started boating in 1974, hiring a tiny “Dawncraft” cruiser from Nuneaton on the Coventry Canal. They were hooked, and after many more hiring experiences, bought “Tranquility”, a 40-foot Sea Otter in 2004.
Glenda has been a Christian for as long as she can remember, having been brought up in the church, and is learning, under the patient guidance of the Holy Spirit, to have “God conversations” with people she meets when out and about, including when out boating. Some of these have led to opportunities to pray with people there and then, and she has been so excited to see God at work in this way and feels incredibly privileged to be a small part of what He is doing. She and Alan also enjoy giving rides to children and their carers through locks, and, as they disembark, giving them a little book of boat-related Bible stories! To enjoy the benefits of membership, which includes:
